CARAMEL MACCHIATO

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot of espresso (about 1-1.5 ounces or 30-45 ml)
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla syrup or extract
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Caramel syrup (optional, for garnish)

Equipment:

  • Espresso machine or moka pot
  • Milk frother or steam wand
  • Coffee mug

Instructions:

  1. Brew the espresso: Start by brewing a shot of espresso using an espresso machine or a moka pot. Ensure that the espresso is strong and flavorful. If using a moka pot, follow the instructions provided with the pot to brew the espresso.
  2. Froth the milk: While the espresso is brewing, froth the milk. Pour the milk into a milk frother or a jug with a steam wand. Froth the milk until it becomes creamy and velvety, with a texture similar to that of a latte.
  3. Prepare the caramel sauce: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the caramel sauce for about 15-30 seconds until it becomes warm and pourable. Alternatively, you can warm the caramel sauce in a small saucepan over low heat on the stovetop.
  4. Assemble the drink: In a coffee mug, add the warm caramel sauce and vanilla syrup or extract. Pour the hot espresso shot over the caramel sauce and stir gently to combine. Then, slowly pour the frothed milk into the mug, holding back the foam with a spoon to create layers. Allow the foam to rest on top.
  5. Garnish and serve: If desired, top the Caramel Macchiato with whipped cream and drizzle some additional caramel sauce on top. For an extra touch, you can also drizzle caramel syrup over the whipped cream. This adds a decorative and flavorful element to the drink.
  6. Enjoy: Your Caramel Macchiato is now ready to be enjoyed! Sip it slowly and savor the delicious combination of rich espresso, creamy milk, and sweet caramel. It's a delightful treat that can be enjoyed any time of the day.
